On the heels of this whole Colin Kaepernick story, we have to take a good look at ourselves as a country and determine what our actual values are. I mean, if I don’t stand for the National Anthem because of systemic racism (the opposite of freedom), the how am I disrespecting our soldiers, one who you say fight for our freedom? Because who is fighting for the freedom of those affected by a racist system? And if you claim this racism doesn’t exist, and that these ALL OF THESE MILLIONS of Black and Brown people are simply wrong, then what is it you’re saying about an entire group of people?

You see, we are citizen-soldiers. And our weapons are our words. Our not standing during National Anthems until this country stands for us. Our not putting our hands over our hearts and repeating pledging allegiance to flags until this country pledges allegiance to us. Oh say, can you see?

No one is disrespecting soldiers. It’s just that some soldiers aren’t on the front lines, but on the sidelines.
