It’s pretty well known that each open-modify-save-close cycle will compress the image a little bit, increasing the number of .jpg compression artifacts. It was a problem in the old days since .jpgs were already agressivly compressed at the beginning of the century; now you’ll have to do it 200 times before you see a problem. But wise photographers know that you should do all of you .jpg image modifications in one session, and that you never overwrite your originals, making this “problem” a thing of the past.
