As a whole, phlebotomists in the United States can expect to receive on average $12.83 per hour, according to salary comparison website Payscale.com. Annual salaries vary because of the differences in bonuses.

The phlebotomy field is expected to grow faster than average by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

A majority of phlebotomists in the nation are women, according to Payscale.com. Sadly, not all enjoy medical benefits or dental plans, depending on the location.

New York State

New York has one of the highest hourly wages in the country averaging $17.32, according to Payscale.com. The hourly wage ranges from $12.31 to $22.32. An 81 percent of phlebotomists in New York have medical benefits and about half of them have dental plans.

Denver

Phlebotomists in Denver can expect to earn $10.08 to $18.73, with an average of $14.62, according to Payscale.com. Annually, salaries range from $21,110 to $39,638.

In comparison to New York, only about 65 percent of phlebotomists in Denver enjoy medical benefits, and a little more than half of them have dental plans.

Houston

The average hourly wage in Houston is approximately $14.80, according to Payscale.com. It ranges from $10.97 to $18.41 per hour.

Unlike Denver, only a fourth of the phlebotomy professionals have no awarded benefits while a larger part have dental plans. Also, most phlebotomists in Houston report high levels of satisfaction, according to Payscale.com
