The Buzz about Google’s Accelerated Mobile Pages

Smartphones and mobile devices have changed the way that most web searches and how we share content online. With most online searches happening on a mobile device, websites have needed to adjust to the demands of a hand-held device but often times it takes websites much longer to load than on a regular web browser.
Searching online for videos of extreme snowboarding tricks in Utah could take what seems like days to load. With each additional second it takes to load a web page, readers lose patience and find information from another source with good SEO.
Last week, Google introduced Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) which intends to improve the performance and speed of mobile web pages in order to increase their SEO. A website containing a lot of video, graphics and other content that would typically be bogged down by loading times will hopefully load instantly with the launch of Accelerated Mobile Pages.
The coding used will allow for websites containing a lot of graphics and animation to appear instantaneously no matter what type of device you are using whether it is a smartphone or a tablet. Now, those videos of snowboarders jumping out of helicopters down the mountains of Utah will load at a much more desirable speed.
Google states that AMP HTML is a new structure built completely from existing technologies which will allow for web developers to create sites that are more light-weight and have better SEO. AMP also makes it so that whatever appears first loads first which allows for the content below to load while you are watching those beloved Utah snowboarding videos.
Pinterest, Twitter and LinkedIn are among some of the first web giants to utilize Accelerated Mobile Pages. Each of these platforms are content heavy and with the integration of this new development, they will all have better loading times and SEO.
Google’s goal with launch of Accelerated Mobile Pages is to increase the flow of information to users and keep people on a webpage long enough without losing patience while the information they are searching for is loading. Snowboarding lovers will now be able to find their favorite videos of professionals shredding down a mountain in Utah with instant loading times. Gone are the days of waiting for a content-rich site to load and feeling like you have been sitting there waiting hours just to see a video on your mobile device.
