Chris Collins Makes His Decision
Monday was commitment day for 2018 DE Chris Collins. Collins made his choice in front of a group of students at his high school in Richmond, Virginia. Collins selected Carolina over Louisville, Pittsburgh and Tennessee. He told reporters after his commitment that Jake Lawler made a great impression on him and that he was one of the people that helped convince him that Chapel Hill was where he was meant to play.
Collins is the No. 41 WDE in the 2018 class and is coming off of a strong season at Benedictine. Because his stats were only put in a few times, they will not be taken into account here. On tape, though, Collins shows he’s the real deal. He is a hand in the dirt defensive end that consistently beats tackles with his speed. When he is engaged by blockers, he uses his hands well to disengage and make tackles. Collins is also very smart with the pursuit angles he takes. This 3-star should be effective at the next level once he builds himself through the Carolina Conditioning Program.
With the Collins commitment, the Heels pick up their third commitment in four weeks to stay hot on the 2018 trail. The commitment pushes the Heels class up to No. 40 overall in the country and up to No. 10 in the ACC. The Heels continue to try to climb in the 2018 rankings in an overachieving ACC early on.
