Lessons from Tham Luang Cave Rescue
July 10, 2018
I thought I would never see a miracle, but I just have.
The 17-day ordeal at Tham Luang, Chiang Rai, Thailand, perceived as an unconquerable cave rescue, is over. Mission accomplished, miraculously, thanks to Herculean, fearless international effort with one goal in mind: to free 12 Thai boys, aged 11–16, and their 25-year-old soccer coach.
This is more than a cave rescue, even though this is the first of its kind — one of the most dangerous cave rescues that involved trekking and diving through almost 4 miles of complicated cave networks, some with narrow flooded passageways with low ceiling.
But the uplifting lesson learned from this is that when humans are faced with incredible adversity and survival to live, people from around the world are pouring their moral supports, rooting for a happy ending. It’s a triumph of indomitable human spirit, coming together, uniting in an otherwise divided world. It’s the greatest example on humanity. People put differences aside, regardless of their race or religion, all coming together to save lives.

Every Moo Pa (or Wild Boars, the nickname of their soccer team) who emerged from that treacherous cave alive is a testament to an utmost bravery, the ability to overcome the extreme adversity, and the will to survive.
To all heroic divers, rescuers and everybody involved in Tham Luang Cave rescue to free 12 boys and their coach, you symbolize strength, resilience, courage, sacrifice, optimism and true humanity. And much praise and respect to all remarkable people, especially Thai Navy Seal, who have worked around the clock to rescue these youngsters. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
And let’s not forget former Navy Seal Saman Gunan who lost his life during the rescue mission. I hope he is looking down from heaven smiling with pride. May him Rest In Peace. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
