Hi Siobhan,

Thanks! No one in the media is safe from the Tories — agreed (unless your surname is Murdoch).

We’re not great fans of the current obsession with BBC Alba with national football (nothing wrong with sport in Gaelic, but why aren’t BBC Scotland covering sport more comprehensively anyway?) and the rugby on Alba drives us bonkers, as its half English commentary has us asking questions: is this really a Gaelic channel at all?

Culture — Scotland desperately needs a cultural injection within all its media, absolutely.

We hear that a lot of imaginative programme ideas have been put forward to MG ALBA, but bosses— like all broadcasting authorities — have boxes they want to tick when it comes to programme categorisation and criteria. A lot of indies with great ideas have been turned down in the last few years. We get the feeling that the authorities lack imagination and risk-taking. Is this similar to BBC Scotland? We think so. In 2015 in Scotland, our media needs a shake-up of the cultural kind!
