WASHINGTON, D.C. — May 1st, 2017 — On May 5th, during the Annual Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders Meeting weekend, the Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC), in partnership with the Greater Omaha Chamber, will host a first-ever Blockchain event focused on business solutions and the role of technology in the future economy across sectors. The event, “New Kids on the Blockchain”, will be held at the Kaneko in Omaha, Nebraska.
Since its formal launch in January during the Annual World Economic Forum Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the GBBC has expanded its presence across the globe. After announcing its roster of 37 founding members representing 28 countries and opening its U.S. chapter in Washington, D.C. earlier this year, the GBBC held three days of conferences in Beijing and Shanghai surrounding the opening of its China chapter this March.
The Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) brings together the world’s leading businesses and business leaders to highlight the latest innovations and advances in Blockchain technology. The GBBC educates business leaders on Blockchain technology, provides a forum for businesses and technology experts to collaborate on Blockchain-based business solutions, supports businesses interested in implementing Blockchain technology in their operations and advocates for the global adoption of the technology.
Speakers for “New Kids on the Blockchain” include Paul Brody, Global Innovation Lead for EY; Sid Siefken, Global Solutions Agricultural Lead for IBM; Jonathan Johnson, President of Medici Ventures; Sandra Ro, Executive Director of Digitization for CME Group; Valery Vavilov, CEO of the Bitfury Group; Jeff Main, Senior AVP-IT Application Development at Union Pacific; Brian Poppe, VP of Innovation Strategy at Mutual of Omaha; Tomicah Tillemann, Founder of Brettonwoods II at New America; Dante Disparte, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Risk Cooperative; and Marco Floreani, Manager of Business Development for the Greater Omaha Chamber.
“Greater Omaha is at the center of commerce and trade — and our corporate citizens, working within the industries of financial services, data center solutions, cyber security, agriculture and logistics, pave the way for Greater Omaha to become an ideal strategic partner within the Blockchain community” says Marco Floreani, Manager of Business Development for the Greater Omaha Chamber. “Collaborating with the GBBC and hosting “New Kids on the Blockchain” during Berkshire Shareholders Weekend is the perfect opportunity to raise awareness about the myriad business solutions Blockchain offers and to jump start discussions about Blockchain and the future of finance.”
“I’m a midwestern girl — born and raised — and I know that true innovation happens in the heartland where the world’s hardest working people drive global economic advancement. We are so honored to have the opportunity to bring the Global Blockchain Business Council to Nebraska during this critical Annual Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders Meeting weekend and have a vibrant results and solutions focused discussion with the best and brightest across so many sectors about this transformational technology”, said Jamie Smith, President of the GBBC. “Providing a forum where business leaders can learn what Blockchain is and why they should care and how it can improve their business is exactly why we created the GBBC; and this is only the beginning.”
