AESTHET IA: “Philippine National Museum”

Last week, our professor encouraged us to find time during our long weekend to visit the National Museum of the Philippines. As I was not the artsy type, the assignment really didn’t interest me much. That all changed as I entered the museum for the very first time. This was a shame as I discovered that I pass by the place every night as I go home from school! Anyways, without further a due, here are the 8 art works I found most interesting during my visit to the Philippine National Museum.

“Prehistoric Man” by Isabelo Tampinco Y Lacandola

The “Prehistoric Man” for me is a reminder to every one of us that we must never turn are backs from our origins. Every moment in our past played an important role in shaping the person we are today. That is why we should cherish all of our memories, whether good or bad.

“Green Earth” by Federico Aguilar Alcuaz

“Green Earth” for me is a depiction of the current state of our planet. Looking at the urbanized places that exist today, we barely see any green. Though some say this is for the better, we can’t ignore the problem that is global warming. We must never forget that though we are the dominant species in the world, nature will always come out on top.

“The Family” by Napoleon V. Abueva

“The Family” for me is an artwork that emphasizes the importance of a support system in one’s life. May it be your family or may it be your friends, having positive people present in your life is truly a blessing that shouldn’t be taken for granted.

“Child Eating Fruit” by Isabelo Tampinco Y Lacandola

Seeing “Child Eating Fruit” reminded me of the days when life was simple. A time when real problems did not exist and one had all the time in the world. Childhood truly was a great time to look back on.

“Girl Reading A Book” by Vidal A. Tampinco

“Girl Reading A Book” reminded me of my student life. From all the way back to La Salle Green Hills where I graduated grade school and high school, to De La Salle College of Saint Benilde where I’m currently studying now. I view education as something that is very crucial and needed in one’s life. As Education is the means by which you could achieve your dreams.

“Roman Soldier” by Isabelo Tampinco Y Lacandola

The “Roman Soldier” symbolized to me the fortitude one must have to accomplish his goals. Life is full of adversity and only the strong will survive.

“Solitude” by Isabelo Tampinco Y Lacandola

“Solitude”for me is an artwork that depicted the importance of quiet time in a person’s daily routine. Whether it be praying to God or just meditating in silence, we all need a little bit of silence in our very hectic lives.

“Figurine Of Victory” by Isabelo Tampinco Y Lacandola

“Figurine Of Victory” for me represented the end goal we all dream to reach in our lifetime. Being successful will never come easy. But with good morals, great family, and a load of a hard work, anything is possible.
