Thanks for taking the effort, regardless!

I feel like Patreon creators, being the artists that they are, are still going to experience some inertia in that respect — their ‘product’ still needs to be good if they are to convince people to donate towards their cause.

The irony of Patreon’s rise is that many of its creators’ pages still function fundamentally as the market does — and exchange in value. Meanwhile, the GNU movement is principled on the sharing of content without the question of market value factored in entirely.

I think the status quo I’ve mentioned between commercial and GNU parties will still persist for some time to come. Patreon definitely elevates many artists and creators to a new level — but at the very most, I feel more like they’ll motivate commercial companies to make more sincere products as well, rather than shake up everything. :)
