Cudder is the Father of a Generation

Scott Mescudi is the guy that changed the rap artist into the rock star and will never get the recognition he deserves for it.
There’s no backpack rap, no hipsters in hip hop without Cudi. He’s the backbone of 808s and Heartbreak, the first experimental album of Kanye’s career and the album that in many ways opened the door for Drake’s career to become as big as it is today. Without Cudi, being honest in hip hop would still be taboo and So Far Gone would have been 2009's Mood Muzik. He made rap white friendly and then it became “cool”.
He’s continued to try and push the envelope with every album but has fallen on deaf ears more and more with each release.
On top of not being recognized for it, his vision was never realized. Instead of a movement of acceptance of everyone and freedom to be whoever you want to be, niggas’ jeans just got tighter.
His style became pop culture and people who made fun of him now dress JUST like he did. He gets shitted on by critics for making albums that sound just like the bands on the t-shirts these critics are blasting What A Time To Be Alive and dabbing in. Every fan is a rebel without a cause in thousand dollar outfits, and every artist is a rockstar with a new overpriced clothing brand collaboration to shove down your throat.
He may be partially to blame for his lack of commercial success due to his struggles with drugs and the media, but it just sucks to see another artist who is true to the essence of his craft pushed to the side and even more annoying to see someone getting bashed for something and then having a watered down version of it accepted by the hot pop star, which is bound to happen with Speedin Bullet To Heaven.
Appreciate true artists while they’re alive, don’t sit and let them go crazy just to love them when they’re dead.
