Anti-LGBTQ+ Activists are Idiots but they aren’t Wrong

Any argument that says people can’t be a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer, is stupid.

Everyone reading this will think this is insensitive and close minded, but people should be able to do whatever they want and be treated equally as long as it doesn’t hurt others. We’ve done this with blacks, then women, and now we’re going through the same thing with people in LGBTQ+.

However, people who are against the LGBTQ+ community aren’t completely wrong.

Right now many people–particularly Democrats–understand that LGBTQ+ rights are gaining wider acceptance. Consequently this gives them a need to establish a voting base which gives them a choice…

They can either be normal and slowly assimilate them into society or, they can shove Pride Month, LGBTQ+ history, and queer books down our throats.

They’ve chosen the latter option and as someone who supports LGBTQ+ rights, even I am sick of it.

Having our government and schools constantly bring up the fact that we are becoming more inclusive and making decisions that cloud up my news feed, is strange because it feels like they are solving problems that don’t exist.

It is like being in school where a teacher teaches something you already know and you want to sit back and die since it is so boring! Let’s just move on and learn something new already.

This is how I feel when it comes to the LGBTQ+ discussion. A waste of time over something that is predestined. Energy that we can be redirecting somewhere else to something more important.

But of course I am wrong.

I am just one person, and my views are different from everyone else. I may be for LGBTQ+ rights, but others are not.

And anti-LGBTQ+ arguments built off of years of prejudice are extremely hard to argue against. The only thing we can do is bring awareness to it.

At the time of writing this article, there were protests at a school board meeting at Glendale over the establishment of Pride Month. And in the coming years there will be many more. The people there believed that June shouldn’t be designated as Pride Month–myself included–but we have to realize that recognizing June as Pride Month is a way for us to bring awareness.

Bringing awareness won’t change the minds of anti-LGBTQ+ activists, but it is a step in the right direction. We did this with black people and women, and for a time we were uncomfortable (some people still are). But we are still a more equal nation than we were a decade ago.

So at the end of the day it is much better to err on the side of being uncomfortable over the LGBTQ+ overload than to err on the side of not bringing any awareness at all.

In the meantime, I will keep reading about the recent LGBTQ protest in my newsfeed.
