How I came to embrace the idea of minimalism is when I listened to a “Super Soul Sunday” conversation titled “living with less.” I have been trying to limit myself to the things I need and life is much simpler that way.
I was nodding my head throughout the whole post until the point with the four (!) pairs of shoes for both seasons. I could not think of owning less than 6 or 7 pairs of shoes and I am not even including the sneakers and the trainers.
I suppose, though, that by having the need to own more pairs of shoes I just put more fuel…
When I was in graduate school (1973–1978) one of my professors and his wife lived by this motto: if we haven’t used something in a year, we donate it!
Their house was neat and trim without any fussiness or frills. The word spartan comes to mind. They were another generation’s minimalists!!
