Conclusion
Throughout my time within my practicum placement this semester I learned many things. This inquiry process really pushed me to learn more about collecting data and the reflection process. This will influence my future practice as I have realized that doing these things is easier than I previously thought.
This inquiry showed me several things that have direct implications in my future practice. In the future, I must attach a physical reward system to my classroom management tool. Some students might need external sources of motivation to engage with content area material. I will also intentionally seek to increase my wait time when I ask students a question. This continually proved to be an effective way to elicit a greater and more significant response. Lastly, I want to interview all of my students individually to find out what motivates them. This will allow me implement motivating rewards that reach all of my students.
FUTURE WONDERINGS
I am now wondering how other sources of extrinsic motivation can affect students participation within the classroom. I am also wondering how we can create equitable OTR’s that give more students the opportunity to respond.
