Do celebrities deserve privacy?

I must to say, this question the most controversial topic in celebrity culture. Why? Because the word “privacy” is never belongs to a celebrity. It is true that everyone should have their privacy, and should have the right to protect their privacy. But for celebrity, the part of their business is including sale their privacy. Even there is no rules said they need to share their privacy. But once they start to be a celebrity, your daily life, your relationships, and your gossips are all became to a part of your job. We can say this is a hidden rule for this profession. Whatever you want or not, you always follow this rule. I want to say, this is so cruel. And this is the real social media.

From the website at above, it proved this question is controversial, but I think the celebrity should have their own privacy and fight for their right, because they are human, they have the right to do it, there should not have a doubt about this right. Unless, the celerity use their privacy or gossip to make themselves be sensationalize. I think this issue is about moral, they used the special properties of their job to make money do not deserve privacy. Basic on the question “Do celebrity deserve privacy”? Firstly, they do deserve it, but except the act that use privacy to attract attentions. Only this behavior is not worth my sympathy. That is the reason why some people think celebrity do not deserve privacy.

In my opinions, the celebrity have the right to protect their privacy, even though the celebrity use their privacy information or gossips to make more attentions. They still have the right to keep their privacy. Because this no body have the right to dig other’s privacy, sometimes, it hurt people, and it not the right way to respect people. I found a news, it said a fan girl breaking into a famous Chinese celebrity’s house and took a bath in there. This news shock me and made me feel so bad about the girl’s activity. Firstly, she breaking into other’s house already break the law, and the terrible thing is she took a bath in there. This action obviously violated the celebrity’s privacy. Even made a terrible psychological effect to the victim. There are more and more story like this. I strongly agree that celebrity should not be treat like this, they shared their privacy does not means you can use that information to hurt them.

Furthermore, according to Daniel Solove (2014), he said

“ The argument that celebrities should have no privacy often boils down to the fact that people really enjoy celebrity gossip, that celebrities are rich and famous and thus get great benefits by being celebrities”.

It is so true that celebrity get lots of benefit and become rich through this social media, the price is by sale their privacy. And I am agree that gossip about celebrities is fun and enjoyable, it cloud causes celebrities harm. This is obviously a contradictory thing. But the important thing is people are not free to enjoy the gossips when it can cause harm to others.

We need to think deeply about this issue and be sensible to treat celebrities, use the legal way to enjoy the celebrity gossips.
