Rhetoric is where you see yourself in ten years…

Rhetoric is where you see yourself in ten years: thinking ahead, planning but never really knowing. Just like life you do not know for sure what you will end up with but you can do what you can to try and make things go as perfectly as possible. When you first start writing you do not always know how your writing will end up. You can plan and plot out everything you want to put into your writing but you can never truly say exactly what the end result will be. I may view things now much more different in ten years than I do know just like rhetoric you may go back and see things differently after you have already written things. There is no telling who will come and go in your life and how they view you and your decisions. When it comes to your life in ten years and rhetoric you can try your hardest to please everyone but there is no telling what they are going to do or feel because you can not control other peoples thoughts and feelings.

Rhetoric is much more than just writing. It is all of the planning and organizing that leads up to the final result. Life is going to throw you curve balls just like rhetoric will, people will depict your writing in so many different ways and you have no control over that. The only thing you have control over is the decisions you make to get you to where you are. Rhetoric can be viewed in the same way, you can not control what the reader is going to think but you can control what you choose to write about or the main concepts you want people to grasp, whether they see it as “good rhetoric” or not is not up to you. It is only up to you to write what you find appropriate and do your best work.

Who really knows where they will be in ten years? No one can predict the future. When you write you never really know how the final draft will come out you can not predict what readers are going to think of it and all you can do is make it what you want and write in a way that you are pleased with. Just like life you can only change your own actions not the actions of other.
