Introduction

Hi Folks! Welcome back to another post on GameFi Nexus.

In this one, I’ll cover a part of earning from Web 3 games that’s often overlooked — community rewards.

We’re talking about giveaways, airdrops, challenges, and all manner of incentives that publishers drop to encourage certain behaviors.

The Guild of Guardians team allocated 280 million $GOG tokens to community rewards. With the game ramping up for global launch, this is the ideal time to start paying attention.

If you’re looking to maximize your earning potential from the game or a way to boost your bag, then you’ll want to consider these opportunities.

Let’s get started.

The Main Quest

There wasn’t much fanfare when these first dropped. I found out about them by randomly clicking on “rewards” in my Passport wallet.

That revealed three face-up tarot cards with cryptic clues like “Being early is a rare trait” or “Make offerings to the altar”.

You can imagine my surprise when I read an X post announcing that the first 300 individuals who sacrificed prayers at the Altar of Sacrifice would receive a 100 $IMX token airdrop.

That’s around 82K USD handed out to those who were “early” participants in the mint of Gen1 and Core1 Guardians.

Immutable and Guild of Guardians want to promote new features in their ecosystem like the Altar, Passport, Immutable zkEVM, and Eri’s Store— and they’ve teased that more rewards are on the way.

The Main Quest is part of a massive 50M USD reward program to support the growing list of Immutable games.

Collecting Gems

Joining the program is easy. All you have to do is navigate to https://imx.community/gems and connect your Passport wallet. Click the “Claim Gems” button on the following screen to get your gem.

You can also receive additional gems by completing additional challenges.

For example, you receive 3 gems instead of 1 if you hold 20 $IMX in your Passport wallet when you claim.

Some challenges are game-specific. Recently, crafting a cracked heart at the Altar of Sacrifice rewarded you with 5 additional gems per day. Make sure to check the website often for additional offers.

We still don’t know what use these gems have, but they don’t take much time to collect and other rewards have been worth it. I recommend you start claiming yours today!

DeQuest

DeQuest is a site that lets you earn rewards for playing Web3 games, including Guild of Guardians.

The Guild of Guardians quests have been around since April, however support for Passport was only added recently.

You’ll have to sign up for a DeQuest account before you can connect your Passport. I used the same Metamask wallet I linked to the Passport account I use to play the game.

Once you sign up, you’ll have to click on your Avatar and select “Profile”. Then, scroll down to this part of the page to add a new wallet.

Once you click on “Add new wallet”, you can select Immutable Passport from the list and click confirm.

Click on “Confirm” will take you through a series of transaction screens to approve connecting your Passport to the site.

There are a lot of different quests to complete to collect points you can redeem for rewards.

Luckily, most of these don’t take much of your time. They involve things like retweeting messages, logging in daily and holding assets in your Passport.

The community is still waiting to find out what the rewards will be, but in the meantime, this is an easy way to gain from your involvement with the project.

I’ll be sure to update this section when more information come out.

Active Staking

Is staking a community activity?

If the past is any indication, the answer is yes!

The previous active staking season encouraged players to be active in the ecosystem with reward pools for holding $GOG and GoG NFTs totaling 6M tokens.

To be eligible, you had to hold $GOG and a GoG NFT in your IMX wallet, then meet one of the two following requirements every three months of the season:

  • Trade an NFT on the secondary market, or
  • increase your $GOG balance

Rewards were scaled based on your share of the total $GOG staked or the size and rarity of your Guardian NFT collection.

In the case of NFT staking, Guardian chromas (i.e. skins) offered big-time multipliers to your share of rewards.

We still don’t have confirmation from the team on whether active staking will continue in this format after the launch — but I hope it does.

It provides amazing utility for all guardian collections and chromas. It also rewards players who build large collections of Guardian NFTs by playing the game.

Unlike the two previous seasons, the active staking feature could have a reward pool that replenishes continuously.

The GoG whitepaper promises that 20% of all in-app purchases, altar fees, and secondary market royalties will feed active staking rewards moving forward.

Chris Clay, GoG’s Game Director, is set to hold an AMA on April 9th, 2024, so we could find out more shortly. I’ll be sure to update this section with any new insights.

Eri’s Role-Playing Quests

Eri is a sweet, cheerful, optimist who tries her hardest to make the world a better place.

As a basement dweller who prefers the escapism of video games over real interactions with others…I find that extremely off-putting.

Although that daily dose of sunshine kept me at bay from past Eri’s Role-Playing Quest events, I reconsidered after the recent $IMX airdrop.

Here’s what it’s all about.

Every so often, Eri will drop a challenge in the Guild of Guardians Discord Community Events channel, which usually involves a quiz or solving a puzzle.

Here’s an example of one of Eri’s challenges — Source: Guild of Guardians Discord Author: Eri?

Winners are chosen at random from the pool of people who complete the challenge. Those lucky few receive raffle tickets for draws to win GoG NFTs.

Now don’t get me wrong, these aren’t Legendary Founder Guardians you’re competing for. But why turn down the possibility of a prize when it only takes a few minutes of your time?

Conclusion: A No-Brainer If You’re Already Active

Guild of Guardians and Immutable are eager to get community members involved in testing new features in their ecosystem.

If you already playing the game on a daily basis, taking advantage of these community rewards should be a no-brainer.

Taking part in Immutable’s main quest by collecting daily games is an easy way to access a reward pool of 50M USD.

Other opportunities like DeQuest Quests, active staking seasons and Eri’s Role-Playing Quests offer you additional ways to earn just from being active in the community and holding GoG assets.

Taking advantage of these low-effort rewards can be a great way of earning back a portion of your investment or setting yourself up to compete in the game.

So, make sure to clap and follow for more news on community rewards from Guild of Guardians and Immutable.
