The Triangle Shape inspired Alpha Numeric Design
So, just recently, I was working on a logo for a client at my workplace and after trying several ideas to use the letter ‘I’ to creatively represent innovation and excellence; which was the essential message the client was trying to portray with their brand/company, I started playing with shapes and whitespace. Then, I stumbled on creating a letter (I) using just right angled triangles of different sizes and though we later settled on another logo I designed, below is what I created:

I really liked what I coincidentally came up with, so I thought of trying another letter. The letter ‘A’ felt like something that would be easy to create because it looks like a triangle already so I went for it.

Above is exactly ten triangles carefully arranged to form the letter ‘A’. This got me really excited, then I thought again; why couldn’t I recreate the whole alphabet and numbers using the same concept? Few nights after, I resumed designing. What I basically did was trying to design different letters with different ideas (and combinations of triangles, of course). By dawn, I had completed everything. Below is what the final designs look like.

Now, these aren’t perfectly and neatly designed but I was glad I could complete those designs that night.
LESSONS LEARNT
1. Just start designing any idea or concept: Your client may not satisfied with an idea, concept or design but this sparks creativity. If I hadn’t pushed myself, I wouldn’t have come up with this.
2. The more you create, the more ideas you get: Some great designs come from mistakes or coincidence
3. It always get better
Please, let me know what you think about these. Still learning alot about design in general and would be posting some other random work & adventures in the world of design.
