Why Yakuza 0 is Not Just a “Japanese Grand Theft Auto” Sega’s Yakuza Game series is often misunderstood and misrepresented as a “Japanese Grand Theft Auto”. Sega themselves tried to market the game in the west as such, which actually hurt their sales more than helped them. The problem is, aside from both games being open world action adventures about crime, they have very few other similarities.
