One of the main advantages of a DAO over a traditional organisation is that it lets the community take a part in its growth by giving them the authority to make decisions. What is a DAO?
A DAO or Decentralised Autonomous Organisation is an entity that is not governed by any central authority. All the decisions are made and governed by the community around the rules encoded in the blockchain.
Ways to make your voice heard
There are different ways to get your voice heard. The two most effective ways are listed below -
Voting in the Improvement Proposals -
One of the most effective ways to make your voice heard is through voting in the Improvement Proposals published by the DAO. For Example, Qi Dao’s QIPs or Badger DAO’s BIPs. This method lets you choose between different options that will take the DAO in different directions. But this method requires huge investments if you want to make a big impact.
How to Vote -
To vote in an Improvement Proposal you will need to have some native tokens of the respective DAO in your wallet. For example, Qi DAO has Qi token.
Next, you need to visit the website where they host the voting for their improvement protocols, most DAOs use Snapshot. For example, visit Qi DAO’s Snapshot Page and look for any active proposal.
Click on the active proposal and then you can choose from the options given.
The more tokens you have the more influence you will have in the voting. Some protocols like Qi DAO offer bonus voting power for locking your tokens for a period of time. For example if you lock your tokens for 4 years, you will get 4 times the voting power of the amount of tokens you have locked.
Being Active on the Organisation’s Social Platforms -
If you have an idea to make the protocol better or a way to bring an improvement to the user experience and want to communicate to the ones in charge of the DAO. The most effective way to get your voice heard is by being active on the protocol’s social platforms. Twitter, discord and telegram are the most used platforms by most DAO’s. You can reply on a tweet containing the message or you can go to the telegram server and convey your message to the moderators. You can also visit the discord of the particular DAO and go to the respective channel to give your ideas or ask a query. For example you can visit Qi DAO’s discord and leave suggestions in the #CommunitySuggestion channel and ask queries in the #Helpdesk channel.
