The Democrats are not the American government, they are a political party.
To put your argument in perspective, let’s imagine you start your own party. We’ll call it the “Caitlin Party”. Now let’s say there is one candidate, arguably the most qualified candidate we’ve ever seen, and she has spent her entire career devoted to your party. Your party will be strengthened by her devotion as she not only raises funds for her run, but all down ticket runs. She says I love the Caitlin party and everything it stands for. If she wins she will follow the beloved other Caitlin party member currently serving the White House.
Then her opponent who has never been a member of your party, and in fact can’t stand the Caitlin party, decides to become a member of the Caitlin party because that is his only possible path toward victory. Said candidate makes no bones about his true intentions of using the party just to win. During his run he will continue to deride the Caitlin party and raises no money other than for himself. He doesn’t care if other Caitlin party members win their elections because he doesn’t even believe in the party. And if there is any doubt to his party allegiance, after he loses he once again denounces the party and returns to his Independent status.
Now which of these candidates would you endorse to represent the Caitlin party?
If you feel the current party system is inadequate, do the work to start your own party. If all your energy is spent on breaking down the Democrats all we will be left with is the Republicans. And they’ve always done a bang up job haven’t they? Keep this focus up and we’ll have 4 more years of the maniac currently running our country.
