It’s implicit in several of your bullet points, but it needs to be said explicitly: if you want predictability, communicate!
It’s a dynamic, iterative process that requires communication so that the information the original plan was based on can be updated to steer that plan. One and done planning is as brilliant (and suicidal) as plugging an address into the GPS, donning a blindfold, and putting the car into gear. If you arrive at your destination at all (never mind on time), it’s an accident. The far more likely crash on the way is what you’ve actually planned for with a method like that.
Working together toward a common goal may not ensure success, much less predictability, but doing the opposite pretty much guarantees failure.
