Gary Vaynerchuk to all women: Regret will scare you shitless to not go and try to do your thing.

I have been following Gary Vaynerchuk for quite a long time now. He is actually the one who inspired me to do 1,000 episodes of live streaming (and counting!) for women who love the f-word — being fabulous, finding freedom and having financial independence.

When I knew that he’s coming to Hong Kong for the 2017 Rise Conference, I immediately set a big interview goal for myself which is to interview him. To tell you the truth, I actually did not get a direct interview schedule from the Rise Conference.

But you know what? I just told myself that I will get it done and ask him the questions I’m dying to ask and flew all the way to Hong Kong. How I got the interview is a roller coaster story but it was all worth it!

Let me share with you his point of view and advice to all women in the world.

Genecia: What is a woman of influence to you? You’ve always spoken about business but what are your viewpoints on women?

Gary Vaynerchuk: It’s funny. My viewpoints on women are exactly the same as my viewpoints on men. They are human beings that run the world.

I’m intrigued by the notion of the conversation of anything — men, women, minorities.

To me, it’s pretty binary. It’s humans vs other animals.

Obviously, I understand the differences. I think there’s unbelievable amounts of advantages for all sexes and all races. I’m optimistic about that.

I always tell entrepreneurs and people, “Embrace your differences because they are your advantages.”

I always believed, being an immigrant was a huge advantage for me. Being born in a communist country, huge advantage for me.

I don’t ever have a great answer for other than I think there’s a lot of advantages to being a woman and that you should figure those out and execute against them.

Genecia: What are some of the myths that you have come across having dealt such a big company and a big team right now? What are some of the myths and obstacles that people face in terms of growing their power of influence?

Gary Vaynerchuk: I don’t think a lot of people think about influence. I think it’s natural. There’s a lot of words we use for it — charisma, popularity.

To me, the thing that I’m surprised by is how many people don’t realize that your inner personal skill set is probably the biggest variable to your happiness and success in life.

One of the things I spend a lot of time thinking about is how incredibly naive it is to not be kind, empathetic and grateful.

It’s so obvious that good human traits are ROI positive to the person than deploys them — Tweet this!

…and yet so many people come from a place of insecurity and weakness and are unable to overcome that and deploy very poor human characteristics.

Genecia: Leveraging on social media for the influence part. You said that early on in your Q&A that a lot of people don’t have the patience these days. What are the steps and strategies that people can do more?

Gary Vaynerchuk: I’m a very big hit fan of looking at history. All the answers have been in front of your face the whole time.

There are literally very few people in the history of time that have created a very meaningful business in less than a decade — of ten years hard work, incredibly smart, perfect timing.

And yet so many entrepreneurs or wanna-be entrepreneurs think miraculously, they are going to be the person that gets it done in two or three years.

What I would tell people is instead of thinking that you’re going to be the once in a generation that bucks the trends of how much time, effort, smarts and hard work it takes to being successful, why don’t you look at the 20+ years that took Amazon to get here and start thinking that this shit takes a lot of hard work and a lot of time.
