In Week 6 of Ephesians, we covered Ephesians 3:1–13. Paul was in prison as he was writing this letter. He was imprisoned for the sake of the Gospel. This led to the question for the night: “what is imprisoning you in your life?”

A lot of things can imprison us (fear, doubt, sin, addiction, etc.). It is draining to be chained to things of this world. Things that were not meant to satisfy, things that ruin our relationship with God and with people, things that blind our vision of the reality of our life. If we were honest with ourselves, we have been or are currently imprisoned by something of this world. But the beauty of it, is that Christ has given us a key to the chains that bind us. He’s opened the door of our jail cell.

He lived a perfect life and he died for our fear, our doubt, our sin, and our addiction. Three days later, he rose from the grave, defeating death and sin. He then ascended into authority, leaving us with his Holy Spirit. He delivered us from the law. He’s given us freedom.

Matt quoted the movie Shawshank Redemption this Tuesday.

“Get busy living or get busy dying.”

We are equipped, qualified, and free to do great things in the name of Jesus. What are we waiting for?
