Introducing the Reach Metaverse: A Highway for 3D Virtual Worlds on Cardano

According to projections by JP Morgan’s analysts, the metaverse is expected to be a multi-trillion industry in the next few years.

Already, Facebook has rebranded to “Meta” to make the social media giant more “relatable and relevant to consumers”.

Introducing the Reach Metaverse

Reach Metaverse is preparing necessary infrastructure and building a platform for projects and individuals who wish to create and explore what the metaverse has to offer.

Reach Metaverse is the “Wix” of the metaverse since it aims to be a platform for building other metaverses. Its developers are laying down the requisite infrastructure and hosting services for metaspaces, which are the building blocks of the metaverse, while adding NFT functionality through the Cardano blockchain. Using the Reach Metaverse platform, users can build, host, and merge metaspaces — different metaspaces can be joined to form the metaverse.

The metaverse has many complex definitions. Generally speaking, a metaverse is an integrated network of 3D virtual worlds, forming an extension of the physical world. In simple terms, a metaverse is a collection of metaspaces where objects can interact in an environment with more connection points beyond what’s possible in typical 2D digital worlds.

Beyond the mouse, the metaverse can be accessed using special multisensory devices, often Virtual or Augmented Reality headsets. Through these devices, users can navigate the vast and often exciting digital worlds using their eye movements, voice commands, or feedback controllers, depending on how the creator interfaces with the client. In the metaverse, users can work, meet friends, play, and more as digital avatars.

What’s special about the metaverse, and different from ordinary video games, is the “presence” feel. They are immersive, with headsets creating a feeling of “being there”, in the metaspace, interacting with others.

How the Reach Metaverse Makes Access Easier

Reach Metaverse realizes the opportunities in the developing metaverse realm. It is building a reliable blockchain-enabled platform for users to create and host virtual reality metaspaces. These metaspaces can be accessed from different platforms and, as mentioned earlier, can be interconnected to create a fully functional and immersive metaverse.

A critical advantage of the Reach Metaverse is that it is platform agnostic. As a result, it can be accessed from iOS, Android, PC, VR, and the web. Users can easily connect to the Reach Metaverse through AppLab with Oculus. Before joining, users should log in to the Oculus website and proceed to the Oculus web store.

To create a metaspace, a user must first build and upload a Unity scene (the metaspace) using the Reach Metaverse’s Standard Development Kit (SDK). Depending on the developer’s preference, this upload can either be made public or private and is accessible on PC, Mobile, or VR.

Using Reach Metaverse tools, developers can collaborate. They can merge their metaspaces (locations on the broader metaverse) for a larger, more interactive metaverse with different objects.

Reach Metaverse offers a free version of their SDK. However, for more functionality and features, users can subscribe to any of the three packages available — Plus, Pro, and Enterprise for business and projects. In the coming months, the Reach Metaverse will release the beta version of a metaspace builder for those who wish to build metaspaces without Unity experience.

Partners

By June 2022, Reach Metaverse had partnered with multiple companies in diverse sectors, hosting their services. Notable examples include VRKure — a VR surgical simulation project, Mind Your Brain Foundation, and the Digirub — that provides VR spaces for digital marketing clients.

By creating their customized metaspaces, they access many benefits. For instance, partners in the health sector can host and offer more engaging and interactive therapy services on the platform. Meanwhile, associates in marketing could easily create metaspaces, offering a metaverse experience for their clients.

The Reach Metaverse has also been onboarded by Genius X, a business accelerator program that offer ambitious Cardano-based projects technical, marketing, business development, strategy, tokenomic designs, and legal support.

Enhancing Experiences and Functionality through the Cardano Blockchain

Reach Metaverse is building on Cardano for users to access non-fungible tokens (NFTs) experience and add more functionality for users or partners who want to use them. By enabling NFTs on the Reach Platform on Cardano through various secondary marketplaces like jpg.store, CNFT and CardaHub, users can access the Reach Metaverse marketplace on their homepage and trade Condos in the Genesis Realm. All Condos are currently verifiable on the CNFT in-app. Users can use ADA to make purchases. Supported non-custodial wallets include Yoroi, Nami, Flint, Gero, Eternl, and CCVault.

The Metaverse is the Next Frontier

Based on recent developments and investments, the metaverse is the next frontier, dense with opportunities. Realizing the metaverse ideals will lead to the release of more functional, enhanced solutions, resolving current challenges revolving around the limitations of 2D interactions. However, access remains a challenge. Reach Metaverse developers are building a device-agnostic platform, accessible from most devices, with free and premium tools for users to build customized metaspaces, suiting partners’ varied needs. Their integration of Cardano and fusion of NFTs for on-chain provenance further extend functionality, creating a cyclic, incentivizing ecosystem where partners, users, and asset traders derive benefits.
