IT Home Lab Project #1: Installing VirtualBox and Windows 2016 Server

Welcome to my IT home lab project #1 where I showcase how to setup VirtualBox and Windows 2016 Server on your personal computer so that you can setup your very own at home IT lab.

This project will be a part of a series of on-going projects that I will work on to further build my skillset for IT related roles. Feel free to follow along with me and build your own home lab!

What you will need

• A personal computer with internet access
• Ability to download required resource for lab
• Desire to learn something new

Step 1: Download and Install VirtualBox

VirtualBox is a popular open-source virtualization platform that allows you to build and host virtual machines that are capable of running common operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Mac. It is an extremely beneficial tool because it essentially allows you to have multiple “virtual computing machines” on your local machine.

• Download “VirtualBox” based upon your system configuration. Linux, Windows, and Mac will have different installation packages. Make sure you pick the right installation or you will run into issues.
