The Upside of a Snow Day

As of 12:30 p.m. it is just a cold, gray, and rainy Friday at Georgia Tech. But the prospect of snowflakes have prompted not only an early closure, but some excitement about the possibilities of what’s to come.

“I’ve always heard people talk about going down Freshman Hill in snow, and I haven’t done it. I’m hoping we get that moment again.”

Kuna Fortingo, biomedical engineering major

“My 10 a.m. class was cancelled and my only other class was at noon. So now I’m sitting here waiting on my friend to get out of class and we’re going to Highland Bakery. I’ve never been.”

Julia Lane, freshman industrial engineering major

“I have all morning classes so classes closing at noon didn’t really affect me much. If it’s not slushy it will be great. You know, that dry, powdery kind of snow. If it’s slushy it’s miserable. I’m a kid at heart so if it’s dry I’ll probably be playing in it.”

Nick Rupert, computer science major

“I’m from the north so I don’t really get why every freaks out over snow. It’s going to be like an inch, maybe.”

Marisa Hoenig, computer engineering major

“The nice part? I’m going to get to go back to sleep. Then, I’ll get started on my homework. I guess I’ll play in the snow, but not if it’s too early in the morning.”

Ikenna Uzoije, computer engineering major

“I guess this is the only snow day I’d by sad about. It’s my last day on campus. I leave to study abroad in Italy this weekend. Hopefully, I’ll get to play in it. I guess that depends on how much snow we get.”

Rachel Isaac, business administration major
