The Gibraltar Blockchain Exchange (GBX) team travelled to the 2018 MoneyConf event held in Dublin, Ireland. The same organisers as the huge yearly Web Summit event, held in Portugal, created a fantastic event centered on fintech and blockchain innovation within finance.
The three-day event was held at the RDS Arena, with over 5,000 people attending from over 60 countries. Events like Moneyconf bring together fintech companies with more institutional and household names. Companies such as Lloyds Banking Group and Facebook sponsored the event alongside many well known names from the Blockchain space like ConsenSys and CoinTelegraph.
The GBX Team
From the GBX team, Philip Young, our Group Marketing & Business Development Director, and Chris Bruno, the Marketing and Communications Director, attended the event. With meetings arranged throughout, it was a perfect opportunity to highlight the work GBX has been doing. We received a very positive reception from startups looking to launch their own token sales, with a number of projects being fully aware of the current progress of the GBX.
The team spent some time networking in the startup area of the event. Phil and Chris met with companies like Token Estate from Switzerland who are focused on global real estate market intelligence and are looking to issue a token later this year.
Gibraltar has become a global leader in the blockchain space, with more and more innovative projects being formed in the jurisdiction. The team met with REFD.io who have designed a reward system for recruitment using blockchain technology, with rewards being distributed in the form of tokens.
The event gathered a number of well-known institutional speakers and thought leaders such as Leo Varadkar, Prime Minister of Ireland, Nikolay Storonsky, Founder & CEO of Revolut, Clif Marriott, Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, and Joseph Lubin, Co-Founder of Ethereum.
Philip and Chris took the opportunity to meet with Wachsman, our PR partners who were one of the main sponsors for Moneyconf. Wachsman, started by and named after David Wachsman, announced at the event that they are creating 50 new jobs in their Dublin HQ, looking to fill roles across numerous departments including public relations, events, strategy, operations and marketing.
The team enjoyed their time at Moneyconf and are already travelling back to London for the next event. We would like to thank the Wachsman team for their warm welcome at the event, and of course the organisers for putting on an exceptional conference.
