After a fantastic event at the London Blockchain Expo, the Gibraltar Blockchain Exchange (GBX) sponsored the second leg of the Blockchain Expo series, this time at the RAI in Amsterdam. The 2-day event saw over 8,000 attendees visiting the large venue that boasted over 200 speakers and 150+ keynote and panel sessions.
The event presented an opportunity to bring established institutional enterprises together with emerging innovation in blockchain technology and its growing community of projects and supporters. During the Expo, the overarching themes focused on the challenges and opportunities within the sectors of finance, insurance, energy and even FMCG. The series of Expos aim to address the transformative nature that blockchain technology presents today across all industries.
Institutional Recognition
The event boasted institutional sponsors, with brands such as IBM, Microsoft and Stratis amongst many blockchain firms. It was encouraging to see institutional recognition at the event, with speakers such as Julio Faura, Head of R&D (Blockchain) Santander, Dermot O’Gorman, CEO World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), along with big names in the blockchain space like Brian Behlendorf, Executive Director Hyperledger.
Across the various speaker stages, which focused on areas such as blockchain for business and enterprise as well as token sale strategies, Daniel Evans, Senior Manager of Group Development and Strategy from GSX Group, gave a presentation on the ‘Developing Blockchain Applications’ stage about the evolution of token sales. Primarily, he talked about Gibraltar as a jurisdiction and the work GBX has been doing to build a world-leading, institutional-grade token sale platform, the GBX Grid, as well as the GBX Digital Asset Exchange.
The GBX stand was busy throughout both days of the event, and the team had many discussions with innovative projects looking to issue their own token sale. The Expo series of events have been fantastic for the GBX to continue communicating the work Gibraltar is doing as a jurisdiction as well as our aim to establish new industry standards in token sales through best practices and good governance.
