To paraphrase the book, Sapiens:

Christians and Muslims who could not agree on religious beliefs could nevertheless agree on [trade], because where a religion asks us to believe in something, [trade] asks us to believe that other people believe in something.

That other “something” is their economic self-interest. As you’ve said, we already trade across religious, ethnic, and geopolitical lines without any friction. Why not make it a foundational idea of the nation?
