Getting Your Shit Together With ‘Streaks’

It’s commonplace to hear millennials on a daily basis say “I need to get my [life] together.” In a strange and confusing time period, this has become a widely-accepted phrase that is often joked about amongst the younger generation.

However with Streaks, this became a whole lot easier.

I’ve been using Streaks for two months and, as a busy college student, have come to love how much it’s been able to help me get my life together.

Available for both the iPhone and Apple Watch, Streaks touts itself as “the app that helps you form good habits,” allowing you to create up to six tasks you wish to accomplish daily. Yet, not all tasks are daily tasks; so, they can be customized for certain days.

For example, I have my tasks set for to taking a vitamin, brushing my teeth, and weighing myself in the mornings. Other tasks include working out and practicing my Java skills four times a week, as well as doing laundry on the weekends.

With complications for the Apple Watch, simply glancing at the time helps me to accomplish the little things which play a vital roll in being a (somewhat) well-rounded person. This is great, as the one thing I almost never forget to do is check the time on my watch.

The major downfall to Streaks is that you’re limited to a maximum of six tasks, so if you’re a little more scatterbrained than that, you’re out of luck here (maybe Siri may be of better assistance for the extra tasks).

Streaks isn’t just for millennials. It’s for everyone.

The bottom line is we are all busy people. Some of us work two jobs, have other commitments, or consistently have life hitting us like that semi on an open Texas highway. It happens. Life happens.

We all forget the small, important things. Streaks doesn’t.

I highly recommend trying out Streaks and encourage you to read other app reviews before you commit to purchasing. Streaks is available on iOS/watchOS app store for $3.99 USD, with an Android version currently in the works.
