Ahead of Aberdeen’s G2Gin Festival later this month, Gin & Doric caught up with Eddie Day, Co-festival Organiser along with his wife Katy and son Grant, to find out “fit’s fit” for the City’s festival.

Not long to go now Eddie, what can people expect on the day?

As part of the entry price, festival goers will get a balloon gin glass, a goodie bag, opportunity to attend masterclasses, free nibbles, and of course samples from exhibitors — included with the ticket is 20 tokens; each sample will be 1 token and perfect pours will be available from the bar for 5 tokens. Attendees will also be able to buy bottles of gin direct from their favourite exhibitors.

What type of gin can be sampled at the event?

There will be something for everyonewe have Mediterranean gin from Spain, Scottish Gin from as far North as Orkney to as far West as Isle of Colonsay, as well as gin liqueurs from Cheshire. Local gins are well represented with The Teasmith (Udny), Vesperis (Rothienorman) and Granite North (Aberdeen) all attending. In addition, Aberdeen Whisky Shop will be exhibiting.

How do people sign-up for the masterclasses?

Masterclasses will take place at every session in the Library and will be available for approximately 30 people. Attendance will be on a first come, first served basis with announcements going out before each masterclass.

Why did you pick Trinity Hall?

Katy, Grant & I established early on that we wanted somewhere that was easily accessible and in a location that allowed festival goers to do things before or after the festival. This led to the city centre’s Trinity Hall which is a beautiful venue and perfect for the size of festival we are running.

Is this the first G2Gin Festival?

This is the very first G2Gin Festival and we think Aberdeen is the perfect test city for the type of festival we want to put on. All being well, we hope there will be many more opportunities around the country.

This all sounds amazing, when will the festival take place and most importantly are there any tickets left?

G2Gin Festival will take place from the 14th — 15th September 2018 with sessions at the following times:

Friday 14th September, 6–10pm

Saturday 15th September, 1–5pm

Saturday 15th September, 6–10pm

We have capacity for 250 people at each session and I am delighted to say tickets are still available and can be purchased from Eventbrite: http://bit.ly/2MIWdID

Thank you so much Eddie, it sounds like the stage is set for a great event! Gin & Doric will be attending on the Saturday afternoon and we can’t wait to go along to try all the gins. Stay tuned for Part 2 of our G2Gin Festival series where we report back on how we got on!
