Supplemental Update, 2017–03–27
There’s no point in denying it anymore. There’s no longer any reason to continue hoping that Bernie is the white knight in shining armor who’s going to save us all. There’s no more excuse for the religious veneration of the man, who, it turn out, is just a man, and “not your savior,” as he told us himself. Behold:
The Bernie whom we knew and loved, campaigned for, donated to, voted for? He’s been replaced by an establishment Democratic Party pod person or something. This Bernie Sanders today isn’t the Bernie Sanders we worked for. We don’t need ACA “improved.” We don’t need Liberal “incrementalism.” We need Progressive change, now. We need National Improved Medicare for All, not this “public option” garbage.
Call Senator Sanders’ office; it’s (202) 224–5141. Tell him that this public option is not what we need. Tell him to scrap the Democratic Party plan for incrementalism and instead be true to his word and give us what he campaigned on: National Improved Medicare for All, a companion bill in the Senate to HR 676. We don’t have time for incrementalism. This is the time to go on the offensive, not mimic the spinelessness of the Democrats. Even Republicans (REPUBLICANS, FFS!) are talking about Medicare for All now! We don’t need more Democratic wimps. We need a Progressive Man.
“This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism.”
~ the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr.
