Seasons

It’s mid-August and everyone around me is either upset that summer is coming to an end or ready for it to end in anticipation for Fall. I personally like to enjoy each season from start to finish before I move on to the next one. Summer is actually not over until September 21st and I plan on wearing my bright colors, white pants and sandals until then. People are always rushing the seasons, months and years instead of living in the current moment. I’ll be honest this most definitely used to be me but after I looked up one day and my Godson was 5 years old I had to reevaluate the way I was moving through life. I’ve since chosen to cherish each week, month, and season for what it is. Everyone loves the summer until August then they’re dying for pumpkin spice after that’s done they want Christmas and then beach weather again. I mean come on enjoy the season your in while you’re in it!

The same thing goes for spiritual seasons. I always get inspired by Ecclesiastes 3:1–8 when I’m going through a season I’m not fond of. Please remember there is a time for everything! Currently I’m in a season of throwing away as well as giving up, I don’t know how long I will be in this season or why I’m even in this season. While I don’t necessarily enjoy it-I do appreciate the lessons and the growth that is coming from it, so I will not rush it. Below I have listed some of my favorite things about each season as well as Ecclesiastes 3:1–8.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven

a time to be born, and a time to die;

a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;

a time to kill, and a time to heal;

a time to break down, and a time to build up;

a time to weep, and a time to laugh;

a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;

a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing

a time to seek, and a time to lose;

a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

a time to tear, and a time to sew;

a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

a time to love, and a time to hate;

a time for war, and a time for peace.
