Vegan Help

Ever since the Netflix documentary What The Health came out a few weeks ago I’ve noticed that a lot of people on my social media feeds are becoming vegan, which is awesome! However it seems like nobody did any research outside of watching What the Health. I’m only seven months in the game but I did a TON of research before I adopted this lifestyle. I even did a 30 day “sample” vegan diet prior to fully committing to veganism to make sure it was beneficial to MY health. Seven months later and the research still has not stopped I’m constantly reading books about veganism as well as vegan cookbooks. I would say I’m pretty knowledgeable. I’m a regular degular girl, not some fancy YouTuber who’s getting paid to use products and tell lies! So I’ve decided to share some simple tips to help make a transition to veganism as smooth as possible.

  • Do research for YOURSELF watch documentaries, read, books, watch YouTube videos, check out Instagram pages & Pinterest boards.
  • You HAVE to press tofu! YouTube how to do this, it’s the healthiest “mock meat” because it’s plant based.
  • Make quinoa or brown rice at the beginning of the week for quick meals when you’re hungry.
  • Wash & cut veggies for grab and go access throughout the week to go with the grains you made. Don’t cook them though because you may want to season them differently so your meals aren’t so repetitive.
  • Bananas on deck always, frozen or fresh.
  • Frozen veggies, obviously fresh vegetables are ideal but some days when I need to go grocery shopping I can count on that huge bag of stir fry veggies in my freezer from Costco or BJ’s. When I don’t feel like cooking I just microwave it throw some soy sauce or ponzu on it and some Sriracha add it to brown rice and that’s that.
  • Be open minded — some days you’re going to eat roasted vegetables and potatoes for breakfast until you get your bearings and have your go to breakfast meals down to a science.
  • You need supplements! I personally Take B12 that’s it, but you need to assess YOUR health, get a physical, advise your doctor on what you’re doing and have blood work done in 3 months to see what other supplements you may need.
  • One cup of pancake mix (read the label), 1 mashed medium banana & 1/2 cup of non dairy milk = bomb pancakes
  • Oreos and sweet chilli Doritos are vegan — because sometimes you just need junk food..
