You Can’t Be Socially Progressive and Economically Conservative
Mike Epifani

The author needs to apply his title illustration to himself. Those that call themselves progressives do not necessarily represent progress nor do conservatives represent the status quo. These are all artificial labels that we attach to political arguments, ideas, parties, and candidates. Nor is it true that conservatives don’t care about the poor. It is likely true that some don’t, but that is the case of some progressives too who see higher tax rates as an easy way of dealing with those “undesirables”. Instead most “conservatives” recognize that you don’t solve the problem through money transfers. That you screw up incentives on both sides with those types of transfers. That you also build resentment up on both sides with them.
