We still don’t know much about it or how best to treat it for those who are trans. Proof of that is the suicide rates which are still extremely high. We cannot make a person functional as the opposite gender than they were born. We can only change them cosmetically which often leaves them as asexual in terms of reproduction.
Our current path seems like the wrong way to go. It would seem to be more likely to get people to accept themselves as some non-traditional gender of their birth than to deny the obvious truth of their biological gender. If I thought I could fly it wouldn’t be humane to encourage me to jump off of a building. The same logic would seem to apply if I thought I was a woman.
