Camping is one of the most popular leisure activities for those who enjoy nature and want to spend more time outdoors. For those who don’t have much experience, there are a number of essential items that should be on the list of items to bring on a first camping excursion.

First and foremost, beginning campers will need to select a tent that fits their needs. Larger tents that boast more convenience features are best for leisurely camping outings where the car and other supplies are nearby. For backpacking trips, a lighter tent is in order because it’s easier to carry. Sleeping bags fall into the same categories as well.

It should go without saying, but be sure to pack enough food and water to last for the trip. Water is especially important for backpacking trips, as strenuous activity can lead to dehydration without enough water consumption. Be sure to bring a flashlight to help see in the dark, as well as a first-aid kit in case of injury.
