Hi Jim,

Good point. I’m just pointing out that rainforests do currently produce these “benefits” to society, even if some of those are short-sighted and come with terrible tradeoffs.

The larger conversation should be about how best to steward these forests, for the long run, so that we can preserve their many beneficial services for generations to come. Mining and clearcutting are usually not ways to do that.
