Walking the walls of Dubrovnik, Croatia is one of the world’s great travel experiences — and the red tile roofs against the backdrop of the Adriatic Sea make for some of the most spectacular iconic photos Croatia has to offer. But like many great travel experiences it also comes with crowds of people who also ALL want the perfect photo Dubrovnik.

The good news is most of those people are coming off of cruise ships, visiting the walls smack dab in the middle of the day. If you are lucky enough to be staying in Dubrovnik the key to walking the walls and getting beautiful pictures is going first thing when they open, or right before they close.

The best thing for photographers: this timing also falls in perfect lighting, during the ‘golden hours’ of travel photography. The result is stunning photos in perfect light, without mass humanity getting in the way of the perfect shot.
