ParcelX’s China office will soon be shifting to №1295 South Suzhou Road in Shanghai!

The new office is located in a building on the bank of the Suzhou Creek. Liken a shipping container, the newly renovated office on the second floor is compact and neat, providing a space for a creative work culture. Tan Mingyin, a renowned Singaporean architect and founder of 8DGE Architects, came up with the design. “After looking at the existing structure of the space, we suggested designing an office based on retaining the original spatial coherence,” said Tan.

The building that the new ParcelX office is located in was built at the start of the last century on a quiet spot along South Suzhou Road, amidst the bustling city. It has a unique English-style brick and wood structure. Standing by a river, the building has partial cement finishes, simple yet beautiful. Today, the building is called UV-Working, a Shanghai-style co-working space. The ground floor of the building serves as a community lounge area for the entire building, allowing tenants to mingle and interact.

The second level of the building exudes a strong retro vibe. The first thing that greets you is the eye-catching wall of red and blue bricks. The design of the wall is derived from UV-Working’s unique architectural sense, a departure from the monotony of office spaces with narrow walkways. Further in is ParcelX’s new home. The work area is bright, spacious and well-designed. The open-plan office is simply furnished with double-glazed windows that admit ambient light for illuminating the interior.

The entire office was conceived as a self-sufficient workspace comprising four areas: reception, an open-plan work area, private office, and a meeting room. On the left side of the office is a discussion area for meetings while the other three areas are in an open-plan “working zone”. The “working zone” is differentiated from the rest by its wooden flooring and is the core space of the office.

A unique copper bull sculpture stands tall in the centre of this area. The sculpture is light blue in colour, and its back sports a world map outlined in gold and silver. This company treasure is a gift from a Japanese friend who had it shipped over from Japan. Like the Charging Bull on Wall Street, it is hoped that this bull, which symbolises strength and courage, will lead ParcelX on a smooth-sailing global expansion, with offices worldwide.

The overall colour scheme of the new office is white on wooden tone. The scheme extends to the walls of the leisure area and the furnishing of the entire office. According to Yang Mingyi, President and Co-founder of ParcelX, the company’s senior management are all in favour of setting up an office in a building with historical heritage. Running a cutting-edge tech company in such an environment is also a tribute to history.

Following the successful launch of its GPX token in Dubai, ParcelX has assembled a core team of leaders and talents, and with the shift into this exciting new space further signifies that the company is ready to soar to new heights.
