3 Ways to Better Communicate With Your Church

If you are a church, then one of your main needs is to communicate with your members.

We want to share information, invite them to events and ask them to help out at the Sunday Service. We have many different channels available to us to send out theses messages. Some churches use WhatsApp, some only use SMSes and emails, and other a combination of these and social media.

In general, it is best to keep your messages short, friendly and relevant to the people receiving it. Then use an appropriate channel for the message you are sending and be intentional with how and when you communicate with your members.

Here are 3 ways to effectively communicate with your members

1. Send out your regular announcements via a dedicated news channel. Using the same channel to send out your general announcements helps your congregation know where to find info when they need it. This can either be an email, WhatsApp group or a news channel, connected to your database, that sends out emails or posts to your church member app.
2. Use a channel for each of your ministries or groups. Creating a separate news channel for each of your ministries is an easy way to keep the communication relevant to the people that receive the messages. You don’t have to share the time change of your staff meeting with your whole congregation!
3. Use Mailchimp to send out a beautiful welcome email to your visitors that need follow-up. These emails can include an event registration link to your member course, a link to a page where they can join a small group and a subscribe link to a news channel so that they can immediately start receiving your general announcements.

All three suggestions can be done manually, but a better way would be to integrate them with your church database. This simplifies the process, saving you time while making you more effective when you communicate with your members.
