Earn 3000+ Rapid Rewards Points by Booking a Hotel with RocketMiles
For a limited time, you can earn a bonus 3000 Rapid Rewards points when you use a website that earns you miles and points when booking hotel rooms. When you book your first hotel room through RocketMiles, Southwest will give you an extra 3000 points beyond the points you earn for booking the room.
Here are some pluses and minuses of using RocketMiles:
*Plus — RocketMiles promises that you pay the same low rates as you would elsewhere, but you get miles for your effort.
*Minus — RocketMiles does not have a best rate guarantee, so you should check prices on the hotel website directly and compare. If the price is higher on RocketMiles, consider if the higher price is worth earning at least 1000 points.
*Plus — If you pay for that hotel room using a Southwest Chase Rapid Rewards card or Chase Sapphire Preferred you’ll earn even more points for the total spend.
*Minus — You do not earn hotel loyalty program points for your stay and you might lose some of the benefits of booking directly with a property, such as free wifi. You are also charged immediately for the room.
How it Works
To earn the points, provide your Rapid Rewards number upon booking on the website. The points will land in your account within six to eight weeks.
RocketMiles says you will earn at least 1000 points per night, though they do not have a formula to help you know how many miles you will earn for a given stay. They say it depends on “travel dates, destination city, hotel supply and preferred loyalty currency.”
You can also earn 1000 points for every friend you refer who signs up for a free RocketMiles account. Here’s my link :).
So, should you use RocketMiles? I’d say yes if you need a few more thousand miles to push you over the 110,000 points needed for Southwest Companion Pass status. Otherwise you have to weigh added points versus potentially better rates elsewhere, ability to earn hotel loyalty points and booking direct benefits.
