Meet An Iranian Fashion Designer

Ms Ferdos Jameh Tahaf, 30, who has been designing women’s clothes for three years, wants to start her own label and open a brick-and-mortar store, but faces financial difficulties and restrictions by the government.
Fashion designer Ferdos Jameh Tahaf rents her showroom for about S$500 monthly. The 30-year-old pays for most of it through her work in a university administration office, rather than her fashion design.
Some fashion designers, like Ferdos Jameh Tahaf, are also trying not to imitate Western designers — by incorporating traditional Iranian patterns, such as from tiles in mosques, in their clothing.
