My eyes almost rolled out of my head as I read this. You are cherry picking memories to suit your agenda. As a kid, I didn’t care which gender I took upon when I played with other kids in the playground. I would often play a game in which we were all badass female vampires that were based on a videogame. You should have:
a) Made different friends
b) Become a fan of something that actually had interesting female characters
But instead you cherry pick those memories even though you say you were OK with doing that as a kid.
You also say you HATE Hollywood remakes yet you endorse this movie because girl power. Give me a break. The characters in this movie were cardboard cutouts and conformed to stereotypes. The moviewas a blatant, sad, pathetic cashgrab that lacked any sort of charm or advanced humor and was made to cash in on the tumblr/SJW feminism fad that is going on. By supporting this movie you are supporting lazy, sloppy filmmaking.
And just from one person to the next, an obese person is not something a child should aspire to be. Nor a racial stereotype. Nor a one dimensional ‘super quirky’ scientist ranging on the autism spectrum that makes queef jokes. That said, I wouldn’t want a child to aspire being Chris Hemsworth’s character either — male eye candy with no brain. Instead of fighting dumb eye candy tropes this movie just goes right in and says we can do it too. And no I can’t remember his name at all, but neither can I remember all of the original Ghostbusters.
