The GoodWallet Now Works on Celo
You may have seen the exciting news that GoodDollar has expanded to the Celo blockchain. Now, we have another huge product update to share: The GoodWallet now works directly with the Celo blockchain, making it easy to claim GoodDollar multichain!
For those who are new here, GoodDollar is a protocol that distributes free money as a public good with the mission of providing access to DeFi tools to any person with access to the internet. Part of that mission includes providing individuals across the world with free G$ tokens that they can use to explore open finance on the blockchain, and the GoodWallet was developed to help make G$ more accessible for people interacting with the blockchain for the very first time.
Now, thanks to these latest updates, it will be even easier to claim, swap, use, and learn within the GoodDollar ecosystem. Starting today the GoodWallet is deployed on Celo — GoodDollar claimers can claim G$ tokens daily from both the Fuse and Celo UBI distribution contracts right in the easy-to-use GoodWallet interface. Users can use GoodWallet to claim once from each chain every day and new users who sign up for a wallet can start claiming immediately on both chains too.
The GoodWallet displays Celo G$ daily claim on first view, but it’s easy to switch to do your second claim on Fuse. Just tap the network switcher in the top left of the wallet to switch between the two chains. Since users can now claim on two chains, the GoodWallet dashboard will display the balance for each individual chain and the total sum of your G$ on both chains — twice as much, if you’re claiming twice (once on each chain) daily! To ensure users can continue not having to pay gas fees, the GoodWallet faucet, which distributes gas tokens, has also been upgraded to distribute CELO.
This update means users can now send and receive payments on both Fuse and Celo too (Important tip: payment links are chain-specific, so make sure you are connected to the desired chain in the GoodWallet before you create a payment link). Plus, users can easily transfer G$ between chains directly in the GoodWallet, thanks to a new bridge feature. With the microbridge, it’s easy to convert Fuse G$ tokens to Celo and vice versa in small amounts, making it possible to use G$ tokens more easily, in even more ways.
In addition to the increased functionality, you’ll notice the GoodWallet has a beautiful new bottom navigation bar that provides access directly in the wallet to learning resources, the GoodDapp, GoodWallet’s Invite Rewards (bounties have now moved to Celo!), the GoodDAO, and the GoodDollar donation hub. This makes it easier for everyone to learn about and get involved in all aspects of the GoodDollar ecosystem without having to search outside of the wallet. Again, the hope is that these features will continue to increase the accessibility and ease of use of GoodDollar for all.
This major update has been many months in the making. The GoodDollar community is proud to expand our relationship with the Celo community and excited about the opportunities this change brings for our community members, including:
- Greater utility to G$ token holders.
- Community members will be able to use G$ tokens in even more dapps.
- Community members will have access to multiple growth opportunities across engineering, integrations, business development, community development, activation, advocacy, and education.
To date, since the GoodDollar core team first announced the expansion to Celo blockchain on March 15, 7,161 members from over 50 countries have claimed UBI on Celo with 4000 returning to claim daily, making GoodDollar the top used and fastest growing protocol on Celo. Thanks to these updates to the GoodWallet, it will be even easier to claim on Celo, meaning GoodDollar will be able to reach even more people as the community works to achieve the mission of providing access to DeFi tools and distributing free money to the people in the world who need it most.
“With a community of members concentrated in emerging markets where capital is most expensive and has the most latent potential, we have been so encouraged to see G$ flowing to real people most in need of crypto and DeFi tools,” says Anna Stone, Co-Founder and Executive Director at GoodDollar. “The expansion to Celo enables infinite more opportunities for people to use G$ in the hundreds of dapps designed to support members from emerging economies.”
The GoodDollar community hopes you are as excited about the multichain expansion to Celo as we are! Prefer to claim in the GoodDapp? Don’t worry! Users who prefer to use the GoodDapp will still be able to do so and interact with all of the protocol features there. Still have questions? We put together some FAQ, which we’ve included below.
Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to get involved thanks to this new relationship, coming soon. In the meantime, sign up and start claiming G$ tokens using the GoodWallet or GoodDapp today!

The GoodWallet is now multi-chain. What does that mean?
It means that your wallet allows you to switch between the Fuse and Celo networks. You’ll be able to claim from both distribution contracts and send/receive payments over either network. You’ll also see your total G$ balance, per chain balance, and (coming soon!) a bridge that allows you to send your G$ from one chain to the other.
What’s the default network on GoodWallet?
GoodWallet is now Celo default, so when you log in, you will connect directly to Celo Blockchain. You can change to Fuse Blockchain by clicking the on the top left button of your screen.
Can I claim G$ on Celo and Fuse everyday?
Yes, you should! Switch networks to claim from each pool every day.
How do payments links work now?
Payment links are chain specific. If you want to send over Celo, connect to Celo and send your payment. The person that receives it will receive their G$ on Celo. If they are not connected to Celo, the wallet will ask them to switch networks. Receive links are also chain-specific.
Can I send my G$ from Fuse<>Celo?
Press the Bridge button on the wallet to send G$ from the chain you’re connected to the other and vice-versa. For larger amounts, you can use Multichain.org bridge
Do I need to pay fees to claim my G$ and/or to bridge G$ between Fuse<>Celo?
Yes, there are always fees to claim and bridge G$, but the GoodWallet has a faucet that distributes gas tokens, so the user doesn’t have to pay fees. Gas tokens are distributed both on Celo and on Fuse.
Are invite rewards on the new wallet? Yes, but invite rewards are now only on Celo. You can only get your reward if you invite a new user that has never opened a GoodDollar wallet on either Fuse or Celo.
Can I still claim G$ on the GoodDapp?
Yes, you claim G$ on the GoodWallet or in the GoodDapp. You can use your address to connect to GoodDapp, where you’ll be able to claim from both chains, Fuse and Celo.
What happens to my GoodDollar UBI wallet address?
Your wallet address and private key will remain the same on both chains.
Do I need to verify that I’m human again?
No, if you have already been claiming on Fuse, your whitelisting status will be shared between all chains. Only new claimers need to do the face verification.
