Good Thnx & 10x10 Adelaide: Innovations in Philanthropy

Earlier in November 2016, Good Thnx was excited to partner with 10x10 Adelaide to fund 3 South Australian emerging charities.

10x10, like Good Thnx, is an Australian innovation to engage more young professionals in philanthropy and give startup or emerging charities access to vital funds. 10 young professionals each invite at least 10 friends and colleagues to attend a low-key event, with everyone paying $100 for a ticket. The funds are pooled to give away to 3 charities that pitch for a share of the money at the event. Check out

The November 10x10 Adelaide event, the third in Adelaide and 25th event nationally, brought together 180 guests to hear pitches from 3 emerging charities addressing homelessness and domestic violence in South Australia: Ruf Us, Backpacks 4 Kids SA, and Essentials 4 Women SA.

At the event, each of the 3 charities pitched to the audience for 5 mins, were interrogated by a Dragon for 5 mins, and the quizzed by the audience for another 5 mins. The audience members then cast their votes for which charity they would like to see get their share of the funding pot. Due to the work of the 10x10 Adelaide committee, the funding pot for this recent event was $50k, thanks to additional contributions from corporate and Foundation sponsors.

As an addition to the normal 10x10 model, the Adelaide committee used funds from a corporate sponsor to send a Good Thnx to 129 of the event attendees the day after the event — with an invitation to allocate their Thnx to one of the three charities that pitched at the event, or one of the other charities on the Good Thnx platform.
