I appreciate the need for nationalism to create internationalism. Very interesting point about the nationalism or colonialism — I’d never thought about that as an either/or situation. Certainly, nationalism has its place, but I do think in the hands of politicians its gone awry and continues to do so. I believe that superlative form of nationalism (combined with the populist rhetoric) is exactly what’s driving the exportation of cultural wars that you mention.
I concur, coming together as a country is key; as is respect for other countries that are doing the same.
