Goons of Balatroon Land Sale Mechanics Explained
Goon Squad, the bear market may have projects fleeing, discords quiet, and mints slow, but we’ve had our heads down, and have been hard at work. ‘Buidl’ memes aside, there is a lot going on behind the scenes at GOB HQ. With the release of the Goon Holder’s beta, users can finally jump into the arena and begin duking it out. The time has come to roll out the land project, and no better way to begin than getting the Goon Squad up to speed, on how the sale will function.
First of all — welcome to the brand new World of Balatroon! If you’re new to the project here’s the setup you need: two conniving Bull and Bear scientists travel 9,696 years back in time to find themselves in a strange but beautiful world. The World of Balatroon consists of 9,696 ownable NFT land parcels spanning across an epic 120x120 (total includes water tiles and other non-NFT tile features) map featuring 12 different terrain types, all filled with their own unique creatures. Holding a Balatroonian land parcel means owning a piece of the metaverse, enabling the owner to tap into the terrain’s gaming economy. Land in Balatroon is more than just great art; it’s a fundamental aspect of gameplay that allows other players to interact with it and provides ways for landowners to benefit from these interactions.
Land in Balatroon is designed to bring value and utility to the Goons of Balatroon ecosystem and every land owner. Owning a Land Parcel provides perks for gameplay and gives the owner a stake in the GOB ecosystem with the possibility of providing significant rewards. Land in Balatroon will function as a staking mechanism. Holders of land can allow non-landowners to stake on their parcel for a cut of the $GOB generated. Parcels generate resources that can be harvested by the land owner. More detailed descriptions of utility will follow, post mint, per certain requirements. It is important to understand that owning a land parcel gives the holder a direct connection to interactions within the Goons of Balatroon ecosystem. We’ll discuss land utility more in depth, at a later date, and let this serve as more of a teaser and instead focus on sales mechanics!
The World of Balatroon (WOB) Land sale will take place across several stages and each stage involves different procedures and members of the community, so let’s dive in. Stage 1 is all about Goon holders, and more specifically those with gobs of $GOB. With the token’s on chain release coming at the end of the month, users can utilize their off-chain $GOB to participate in the mint. Unlisted Goon Avatar and Goon Bod NFTs yield the $GOB utility token on a daily basis.
Stage 1
This stage will be much more akin to a reservation than an actual mint. Users will be able to claim lands, reserved lands will be minted randomly to ensure all minters have an equal chance at obtaining specific lands and traits. We are limiting this stage to a maximum of 1 WOB land parcel for each Goon that is held. Holders will also recognize discounted mint rates, in recognition of their value within the Goons of Balatroon ecosystem. This land reservation period will take place over the course of 5 days, beginning August 17th and running to Monday, August 22nd, and will be conducted on a first come first served basis.
We believe it important to disclose that we have slightly oversubscribed our whitelist, between our goon holders and our platinum whitelist members. Due to bear market conditions we don’t believe this will prevent any holders from minting the number of land parcels they desire, and of course holders get first access to the mint!
- The mint price in $GOB will be set to 4,000
- GOB card pack holders will be offered a discount of up to 25%
- The discount will start at 5% for 100 cards and increase by 5% for each 100 cards up to 500 cards held
Stage 2
Stage 2 of the World of Balatroon mint will be the private mint for Goon NFT holders, Platinum Whitelist members, and finally the claim period for $GOB Holders who reserved land in Stage 1. Stage 2 is an ETH only mint stage and each Platinum Whitelist member will be guaranteed a slot to mint at least 1 land parcel. 1,200 lands are reserved for the Platinum whitelist members. At this time Goon NFT holders who wish to mint WOB Land Parcels for ETH will be able to do so. The supply available will be whatever is left over from the 8,000 Parcels that were available in the previous stage.
Our analysis of $GOB held off-chain indicates that there will be enough land to ensure holders are able to mint either in $GOB, during stage 1, or ETH, from stage 2 onwards, as their holdings of each allow. The ETH portion of the mint will have a wallet maximum of 25 land parcels, with a 30 minute cool down, allowing for the user to mint more. Stage 2 will last for 24 hours and will launch 48 hours after the completion of stage 1- August 24th- August 25th.
-Goon holders can mint for 0.12 ETH.
-Platinum Whitelist members minting for 0.15 ETH.
-$GOB holders claiming their lands reserved in Stage 1 will only have to account for gas fees.
During Stage 2, claiming of reserved land parcels, from stage 1, will begin. All holders who reserved a Land Parcel will able to mint and receive their parcels. Users will utilize a special UI, built specifically for claiming. It is important to note that while there is no fee to claim a reserved land parcel, it is a blockchain interaction and thusly claimers must ensure they have sufficient ETH to pay the required gas fees. Once a land parcel has been reserved it will always be available to be claimed and minted by the owner of the wallet that reserved it. This will allow claimers to find a mint window that may best suit their transaction fee needs.
Stage 3
Stage 3 will consist of the public stage of the mint. Any remaining land parcel NFTs will made available at this stage on a first come first serve basis. The public stage will utilize the same 25 mint limit per wallet, with a 30 minute cool down, allowing the user to return and mint again. Stage 3 will transition to the reveal, culminating in a mass reveal of parcels. Prior to the mass reveal, minters can elect to reveal their own NFT via the WOB land UI. During the public sale prices will be the same as the previous stage. Stage 3 will launch within 24 hours of the completion of Stage 2.
Summary
By staging the mint in such a way it allows us to put emphasis on our community members and holders, it lets our community spend either ETH or $GOB as they see fit, and provides a very permissive reservation and claiming window. It also allows us the opportunity to onboard more members into the Goons of Balatroon community, via the Platinum Whitelist portion of the mint and the Public Sale if it is required. ETH prices are subject to fluctuate in the instance that the crypto markets experience an aggressive move. We will keep the community appraised of any adjustments via our official channels. We look forward to discussing more about the functioning and utility of lands, but wanted to get as much technical information out, regarding the sale, as we could, as quickly as possible.
