January 13, 2018: Governor Northam is sworn into office by family friend and retired Circuit Court Judge Glen Tyler at his inauguration ceremony at the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond.
February 2, 2018: Governor Northam visits the Northern Virginia Dental Society’s “Give Kids A Smile” Day in Springfield, where children from Arlington County Schools receive free oral health care provided by volunteer dentists.

April 2, 2018: Governor Northam and First Lady Pam Northam host an interfaith Passover Seder at the Executive Mansion.
April 13, 2018: Governor Northam launches the “Summer of Baseball” tour of Virginia’s nine minor league stadiums with a first pitch at the Richmond Flying Squirrels’ home opener.
April 14, 2018: Governor Northam takes in the Monument Avenue 10k in Richmond.
May 1, 2018: Governor Northam departs Richmond en route to an event.
May 11, 2018: Governor Northam delivers the Virginia Tech 2018 commencement address, advising graduates, “You have the power and the responsibility to make the world you want to live in.”

May 29, 2018: Governor Northam celebrates Project Connect reaching an enrollment milestone of 100,000 for FAMIS, Virginia’s health insurance program for children.
May 30, 2018: Governor Northam and Chief of Staff Clark Mercer watch floor proceedings as the Virginia General Assembly approves Medicaid expansion, expanding healthcare access to 400,000 Virginians.
June 7, 2018: Governor Northam shakes hands with Secretary of Finance Aubrey Layne on the steps of the Virginia State Capitol as he prepares to sign a historic budget including Medicaid expansion, a boost for reserves, additional funding for education and behavioral health services, and the first-ever dedicated source of revenue for Metro.
June 22, 2018: Governor Northam is joined by family members of Ashanti Billie, Delegate Jay Jones, and Delegate Lamont Bagby for a ceremony signing the “Ashanti Alert” bill into law, creating a program for local, regional and statewide notifications of critically missing adults. In December, President Donald Trump signed Senator Mark Warner’s “Ashanti Alert” legislation into law, creating a federal alert system.
June 26, 2018: Governor Northam signs a proclamation for Sikh Awareness Month.
July 2, 2018: Governor Northam, First Lady Pam Northam, and guests react to the governor’s impromptu cameo on ABC’s The Bachelorette, during a viewing party at the Executive Mansion.
July 9, 2018: Governor Northam cruises into home plate after hitting a grand slam during a staff intramural softball game.
July 21, 2018: Governor Northam tours the Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinic held at the Wise County Fairgrounds with founder Stan Brock. A tireless advocate for expanded healthcare access, Brock passed away in August.
July 21, 2018: Governor Northam and Director of the Department of Conservation and Recreation Clyde Cristman tour Natural Tunnel State Park on Railroad Day.
July 23, 2018: Governor Northam and First Lady Pam Northam head to the Education Equity Summit in Richmond.
August 1, 2018: Governor Northam begins the first-ever “Grand Rounds” lecture tour at The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, to discuss the role current and future physicians will play in fighting the opioid crisis. At each of the stops, Governor Northam was joined by Ryan Hall (seated, left), a young man from Allegheny County in recovery from addiction. Ryan has been clean for over a year now and shared his journey with students at Virginia’s six medical schools.
August 19, 2018: Governor Northam acts as Grand Marshal and welcomes race fans, drivers, and teams to Virginia International Raceway for the Michelin GT Challenge.
August 28, 2018: Governor Northam serves as Grand Marshal of the Chesterfield County Fair Grand Parade.
September 4, 2018: Governor Northam welcomes students on the first day of school at Laburnum Elementary School in Richmond.
September 10, 2018: Governor Northam and Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Brian Moran receive updates on the storm path and emergency response coordination for incoming Hurricane Florence.
September 13, 2018: Governor Northam thanks Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) staff during a visit to the Virginia Emergency Operations Center in Richmond.
September 24, 2018: Governor Northam highlights the importance of improving nutrition and food security in remarks to the Chesapeake Food Summit in Washington, D.C.
October 12, 2018: Governor Northam prepares to enter a press conference and provide updates to the public on Hurricane Michael.
October 18, 2018: Governor Northam chats with Trinity Episcopal School students visiting the Virginia State Capitol.
October 27, 2018: Governor Northam signs a proclamation launching 2019 Commemoration, American Evolution: a year-long commemoration of the 400th anniversary of pivotal 1619 events in Virginia.
October 29, 2018: Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, Governor Northam, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser, and Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax join a community vigil at Adas Israel Congregation in Washington, D.C. following a deadly attack on a Pittsburgh synagogue.

November 13, 2018: Governor Northam takes questions from media following an event in Crystal City announcing Amazon’s selection of Virginia for home to a major new corporate headquarters and 25,000 jobs.
December 5, 2018: Governor Northam hosts former governors, first ladies, and their cabinets for a first-of-its-kind holiday reception at the Executive Mansion.
December 7, 2018: Governor Northam gets a dose of virtual reality at NASA Langley in Hampton during a tour to commemorate Computer Science Week.
December 7, 2018: Governor Northam wrap gifts during a visit to the Holiday Helper Toy Store at Fort Lee, a program that provides toys to more than 1,200 military children each year.
